John My float switch failed twice and I replaced it with a new version with the wires attached differently and it has survived about three years. On the original the wires were breaking where they connected to the switch. When I replaced the original pump with the Whale Gulper, I just plumbed it into the existing system with sump.

Hey Randal, did you plumb the new pump into a sump basin with a float switch? I have the Rule shower sump kit with a float switch and pump, but it overflows into the bilge, and I have had to replace the float switch 3 times. Not sure why.

I have now had the Whale Gulper 320 in place for two years without any problems at all. About a year and a half ago I bought another pump for backup and then I found out I could but just the pump head for $16.00 so I have one of those too. Could be I'll not need them.
