Here is a list of suggested spares for a prolonged voyage. If interested I have diagrams of the various position and assembly of the parts. I am simply forwarding it because it was really hard to get - it was a two month process. My limited experience with the engine is that it requires constant exhaust temperatures (i.e clean) air filters and good raw water cooling. Not knowing a great deal about engines, I got this one going in the middle of nowhere by changing the impeller - it is quite rewarding to think that an idiot can fix a problem so if you are feeling overwhelmed, sometimes it is just not that difficult.

I was so damn terrified of the engine when I first got the boat and took a diesel course. Everybody should do something similar but if you don't get a chance - change the oil twice as much as suggested. It won't hurt and it is just good insurance.
