Recently our aircons started to automatically turn off with too high head pressure which usually means lack of sea coolant water. I know this because I have had pump issues in the past. Our boat was docked in the mud in Phuket and the sediment in the water wore out the pump head.
This wasn’t the pump but restriction in the system somewhere. I assumed that somewhere was the heat exchanger/condenser as the space is restricted in that area and the most likely place for crustaceans to accumulate. I was wrong. I know this because I spent hours and hours back flushing the exchanger while beating on it with a plastic hammer.
What I found the problem to be was the fitting the hose fits to on the valve at the through hull.
I would also like to add that I removed the filter element in the saltwater condensing system long ago as it would clog within a week. It wasn’t difficult to clean but getting the air out of the system took forever.
