Lifting A 462 Using The Deck Lifting Rings by Bill Kimley (created on )Gallery | Comments
It is very easy to lift a Diesel Duck 462 using cables attached to the four large steel lifting rings built into the hull. However, the attached cables must not be angled out so they hit the forward handrails or in so they hit the pilothouse aft.

See attached pictures of John and Jerie Milici's 4623. In this case a spreader box with various lift points was used.

The pick up pendants from the spreader to the crane hook should be a minimum of 6 meters (20').

The pendants from the spreader to the boat must be a minimum of 3 meters (10').

Distance between forward pendants should be 3.9 meters (12' 9") or a little less. Distance between aft pendants should be about 4.2 meters (13' 9"). This can vary but the wires should not hit the pilothouse top.

The distance between the forward and aft pendants should be 5.9 meters (19' 4").

Some container ports and bulk carriers cranes have 4 very long cables attached to a lifting hook. These may work fine if long enough. The bow will be no problem but the inward angle of the aft cables may hit the pilothouse top. If it hits slightly some chafing gear could be used.

Note: When lifted the boat will be slightly bow down, fine for launching. But if the boat is to be set in a cradle it can be lifted level by adding a second shackle to the forward pendant lift point. See picture.

All wires should be 26MM (1"). Rigging, lifting and pendant construction should be done by professional riggers only.
