Just thinking about what Jerie and John 462-3 observed with people commenting that the 462 in "real Life" being better than any photo's on the web...that is so true!!
But there is another common theme that comes up all the time with the "secret Duckers Society" as Margie calls us "BLOKES" that have a Seahorse Duck under construction...and that is...HOW GREAT THE CHINA EXPERIENCE IS!
It is nice to have a new boat if you can afford it as new boats are just "nice" but there is a very sound reason to have a new boat built that you can look at during construction. You will know everything about it when it is launched and you are given the keys!. There is also another bonus to building in China with Seahorse and that is the China experience...all the owners...including Margie and I.... who have visited the yard in China, LOVE the opportunity to spend time there...you are not a tourist, you are there living and eating with the locals...you meet some really interesting people, see amazing things...it is only about $30 a night in a nice hotel across the river from the yard...you can eat well for a few dollars a day...everyone is friendly and the kids love a chance to speak english they are learning at school...I have never felt concerned for my safety...you can go travel to Maccau, Hong Kong, Beijing or anywhere in China anytime on the Cheap as holidays are very good value when booked in China....All us "Owners" say when we are having dinners together, what an absolute bonus it has been to have a reason to live in China for awhile!
You don't want to get in the way of the workers in the yard, but they are always smiles, have a 2 hour lunch, so you can jump on your boat then ..as long as you wear a hard hat...and start dreaming about future cruising or what colour curtains/upholstery?
So if you are thinking of, shall I buy a SEAHORSE Duck, a TURKEY Duck, or a USA Duck, or not..or want to see the REAL thing instead of a photo...go grab a cheap Hong Kong airfare or holiday...then a great 80 minute fast ferry ride to ZHUHAI...then a $15 1 hour facinating taxi ride to the Seahorse yard.....enjoy the China Experience...its fun and you will see and learn a lot.I thoroughly recomend it.
