| We just completed our first major cruise totaling 3200+ nautical miles along the Inside Passage of British Columbia and SE Alaska in our new Diesel Duck 462 sedan, Alpenglow. Our general route and some highlights, with additional anchorages in between: Seattle to Ketchikan via Okisollo, Princess Royal and Grenville Channels; -Misty Fiord and other cruising around Revillagigedo Island, Anan Bay, Wrangell, Petersburg, Tracy Arm, Juneau, Swanson Harbor, Glacier Bay, Elfin Cove, Sitka with some local cruising, Cape Decision, El Capitan Passage and Sea Otter Sound, Craig, Cape Chacon and back to Ketchikan, the Inside - Outside route south of Prince Rupert (Petrel and Principe Channels, Estevan and Caamano Sounds, Laredo Channel, Shearwater, Pruth Bay, Ports Hardy, McNeill and Neville, Okisollo Channel, Desolation Sound, Gulf Islands, Anacortes and to Seattle. We “buddy-boated” with the Diesel Duck 462 DavidEllis for about half of the trip. It is hard to pick a “best experience or place”, there were just so many! But chosen as the 2010 highlight: the rounding of Cape Chacon, with no other vessels (except DavidEllis) but lots and lots of whales in the area, and sunshine and calm seas, an unexpected and spectacular day. The disappointment of the 2010 season: not catching a king salmon (but thankful for the many crab and the halibut!).
